» New Sony Cyber Shots
(January 2007)

Sony is coming out four new Cyber Shot Cameras
pretty soon. All four cameras will feature 3x
optical zoom lenses. The DSC-S650 and S700 will have
the Sony lenses, and the DSC-W35 and W55 will
feature Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lenses. The S650 has
a 2.0" LCD with 115,000 pixels where as the S700
moves the LCD resolution up to 2.4", with slightly
lower resolution at 112,000 pixels. The larger LCD
display makes the S700 a tad bit heavier by 20
grams, and 1.4mm thicker. Both of them work on
standard AA batteries.
The Sony W35 is slightly smaller
(two millimeters) than the S-series models in each
direction. It has AF, metering, and video options
plus power from a proprietary Lithium Ion battery.
The W35 with its 2.0" LCD display features the
lowest-resolution of the entire lot, with just
85,000 pixels. The Sony W55 increases the LCD size
to 2.5" with 115,000 pixels.
The Sony S650 costs $150 and the S700 costs $180,
the W35 costs $180 and the W55 costs $200. All
except the S700 will ship from February. S700 will
ship from March.
