Samsung Electronics made its presence felt at the 3GSM 2007 by unveiling their new series, the Samsung Ultra Edition II. Built on the success of the Ultra Edition Series, expect the new series to consist of sleeker, more functional and advance handsets.

First in line is the Samsung U700 Ultra Edition 12.1 which seeks to be an amalgamation of style and functionality. Sporting an "elegant" slider design, the 12.1 (Samsung U700) will be available in colors like sapphire blue, garnet red, platinum metal and copper gold casing. Users will also dig the stylish interface and the fact it offers a HSDPA 3.6 Mbps data transfer speed.

Like any self-respecting handset these days, the Samsung U700 also has a host of multimedia functions to its credit including; a 3.2 Megapixel with auto focus and a music player which supports formats like MP3/ACC/eAAC+/WMA. Samsung has also thrown in a 2.2” wide display and video telephony functionality. Measuring just around 102.5 x 50 x 12.1 mm, the handset is housed in a 2.1mm case.

The Samsung U700 supports EDGE and connectivity options include Bluetooth and USB 2.0. The on board memory of 20MB can be expanded via a microSD card and music functionality is made more intuitive by incorporating a Wheel key interaction. The handset also supports full HTML web browsing and has in built picture editing tools too. The Samsung Ultra Edition 12.1 (U700) will be released in the European Market in the first quarter of this year.
