» Xoro HSD 7500 offers portable DVD and Freeview viewing
(September 2006)
Xoro have announced the HSD 7500, a
portable/handheld Freeview TV and DVD player with a 7 inch LCD widescreen,
resolution 480x234.
Its Freeview tuner is detachable, has auto-scan, EPG and Teletext. The DVD
player is a slot-loading affair (smmooth) and the whole unit looks quite
attractive. Xoro claim that the unit is unique because it has Freeview and
DVD in one unit.
It has a built-in harness that allows it to be attached to the back of a car
seat headrest. It can be powered from the supplied lithium battery, AC mains
or car adapter.
It also has a built in card reader, so you could probably use it to display
photos stored on a digital camera card, and a USB port.
It has both video in and out, so could be used as a Freeview tuner for your
home TV, and display video from other sources like a camera. There's a
supplied internal aerial, too, which could provide mixed results, and a
remote control unit.
I think it's available now, or at least very soon, retailing at around £200.
